Giới từ trong tiếng Anh là gì?

Giới từ trong tiếng Anh là các từ hoặc cụm từ dùng để biểu thị mối quan hệ giữa 2 danh từ, cụm danh từ trong câu. Giới từ trong tiếng Anh được gọi là Preposition, viết tắt hay kí hiệu là (Pre).

Ex: I went to the store yesterday. (Tôi đã đến cửa hàng ngày hôm qua.)

By tonight, it should stop raining. (Vào buổi, trời sẽ ngừng mưa)

For many people, Friday is the best day of the week.

(Với nhiều người, thứ 6 là ngày tuyệt nhất trong tuần.)

We sat on the bench under the tree.

(Chúng tôi ngồi trên chiếc ghế dài dưới gốc cây.)

Lions are considered the kings of the jungle by many despite the fact that they live in the savannas of Africa.

(Sư tử được nhiều người coi là vua của rừng rậm mặc dù thực tế là chúng sống ở thảo nguyên châu Phi.)

Các loại giới từ tiếng Anh

Giới từ trong tiếng Anh được phân loại thành các nhóm như sau:

Các hình thức của giới từ

Trong tiếng Anh, giới từ có 6 hình thức mà bạn cần nhận biết, cụ thể:

• Giới từ đơn: chỉ có một chữ (in, on, at…)

• Giới từ đôi: có hai từ đơn ghép lại với nhau (into, within…)

• Giới từ kép: giới từ ghép thêm a hoặc be ở trước (about, among, beside…)

• Giới từ do phân từ: According to (tùy theo), excepting = except (ngoại trừ)…

• Cụm từ như giới từ: 1 cụm gồm giới từ và loại từ khác như: Because of (bởi vì), In the place of (thay vì)…

• Giới từ trá hình: Giới từ này đi theo cụm, thường ẩn trong cụm từ như At 10 o’clock (o’ = of): Lúc 10 giờ.

Vị trí của giới từ trong câu tiếng Anh

Giới từ trong tiếng Anh có thể đứng ở các vị trí sau trong câu:

Sau động từ “tobe” và trước danh từ

The table is next to the bonsai pots. (Cái bàn ở cạnh chậu cây cảnh.)

Sau động từ thường

I live in New York. (Tôi sống ở New York)

Đứng sau danh từ bổ nghĩa cho từ đó

The show about Asian traditional festival.

(Chương trình về lễ hội truyền thống ở châu Á)

Đứng sau tính từ

I’m not agree with you because you’re not right.

(Tôi không đồng ý vì bạn không đúng.)
